I received an RFE for my EAD renewal.
It says "Please submit proof that you have filed an I-485 Application"
I have a copy of my receipt of I-485. Would that be enough to send? Why would they ask for proof of I-485? This is my second EAD renewal.
Please let me know.

Adding one more question
Can employee pay 140 premium processing fees ?
This is my understanding PERM has no fees to department of labour. Is that right ?
Can employee may attorney fees for PERM ?
Can employee pay I-140 fees for USCIS ?
Can employee pay I-140 fees to attorney ?
I assume that employee can surely pay for USCIS-485 fees and attorney fees for this. ?

Hold on there. Why exactly do you need to file EAD and AP now? Once you get 140 and 485 receipt notice, you can apply online yourself. Then you will get your own EAD to your own home.
Then the questions is - would you be able to get a copy 140 and 485 receipt notice from him?
Thinking out loud - Probably you can change the address by calling USCIS or by filing AR-11 (you may need receipt number to do this).

Iam on L2 and working on my EAD which is expiring on april 29 th 2011.
I have applied for H1 in the 2010 quota but due to my employers mistake i got a rejection on that.
we are trying to reappeal to USCIS but iam not sure if its going to work.
Suppose i have a project and apply again for 2011 quota , can i still continue working even if my EAD expires.
They say that we actually move to H1 on October , so if i apply before end of April through premium processing and get an approval notice before October can i continue working or start work right away or do i have to wait till October.
Is there a possibility to start working immediately as soon as my H1 gets approved or do we have to wait until October in any case.

You have to wait until 1st October. Even though your H1 gets approved faster with Premium Processing, your start date is still 1st October. You will have to continue to maintain your current immigration status (L2) till Sep 30th. On October 1st, your status will automatically change to H1 and L2 becomes invalid.
Since you get the benefit of EAD with L2, you can renew your EAD and keep working till Sep 30th. Your EAD along with your L2 will become invalid automatically on 1st October since your H1 (if approved) will take effect. (Assuming your employer files a H1 Change of Status petition and not a H1 Consular processing petition)

SSN is not really a requirement to start to work. So the answer to your question is NO, she dont need SSN to work on EAD.
But in a practical scenario she need an SSN to work (see below reasons).
SSN is required to pay/withhold taxes and probably for pre-employment background checks and all. So it is very unlikely that an employer will hire somebody without an SSN (or at-least applied for SSN).

Hi
I completed my 6th year H1B in April 2010 and am currently on a 7th year extension based on a pending PERM application with my current employer.
I am currently considering taking an offer from a new employer who is willing to process my H1b transfer and my question is:
1) Is it possible to transfer a 7th year extension to a new employer given that PERM will still be pending?
2) If yes, will I need to give them any evidence regarding the pending PERM as I don't have any document on it except the receipt number from DOL.
3) My current H1b expiration date is in April 2011. If the new employer files for an H1b transfer in July 2010, will I get the same H1b expiration date or a new one (i.e. July 2011)?
This is important in my case because my wife who is currently a LPR will be eligible to become a US Citizen in June 2011 and I will likely not need to go through the PERM process.
Any advice on the above will help a lot.

From what I have found out, this seems to be a herculean task. Is this even possible? Has anyone successfully completed this process, or know of the details/steps involved. I am leaving for India to get married in November. I haven't got my 485 receipt as yet nor have I got my H1-B transfer approval. I expedited my H1-B to premium processing and expect a reply soon.
I leave for India in the first week of November. Now what would happen if I get my finger printing appointment and I am in India?? Can i postpone it?

I've received my EAD+AP and I 485 (filed, priority date Nov 05) through my husband's GC process. I currently work on H1B (3 yrs remaining on my H1B). One week ago got laid off and working with same company till end of month. While looking for new job I'm unable to decided whether to maintain my H1-B status or switch to EAD.
1) If I switch to EAD and husband has problems in I485 approval, can I switch back to H1B for remaining time or do I fall under H1 cap and start from beginning.
2) Should I transfer to H4 before leaving job and then look for new job with EAD to save remainder of time on H1B which I can use if something goes wrong with EAD.
3) Would it be safer to get H1B transfer to new employer and forget EAD till husbands I-485 gets approved.
